Epson America have recently introduced their new printer, theEpson Stylus Pro 3880 that can print on a variety of media. It succeeds the popular Epson Stylus Pro 3800 and is said to be the most sophisticated 17-inch printer to date.
Though compact, the Pro 3880 can produce exhibition quality wide-format prints up to 17” x 22”. It has a high-capacity paper feeder and its top-loading single-sheet feeder is optimized for fine art media.
Like most Epson printers, this one is built on the UltraChrome K3 professional ink technology. It features eight-color ink set with new Vivid Magenta and Vivid Light Magenta, which provides more intense blues and violets. The printer uses nine individual 80 ml ink cartridges.
Its AccuPhoto HD2 Image Technology allows for grain-free images and provides smooth color transitions and gradations.
The Pro 3880 features the Advanced Black and White Photo Mode for those who are fond of black-and-white prints. There are four pre-set modes – neutral, warm, cool, or sepia – in the printer, and you can further adjust and save the settings.
Moreover, the printer automatically switches between Photo and Matte black inks to suit various types of media.
The Pro 3880’s MicroPiezo AMC print head incorporates an ink repellent coating, which enhances its durability.
For additional graphic needs, this printer is also available in a Graphic Arts Edition with a PANTONE Raster Image Processor and powerful print manager interface. It includes coated and uncoated libraries for versatile spot-color matching, and integrated ICC profiles for RGB, CMYK and grayscale images ensure complete color control.
The Pro 3880 will be available from October 2009.
